Tower are developing microcontroller based MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking)
algorithms for solar panels.
It is challenging, to say the least, to acknowledge that some elegant engineering
is required to efficiently join an essentially (and varying) current generator
to a voltage storage device i.e. a solar panel to a battery.
OK - a diode and a resistor works in the Sahara but a panel will only deliver it's
true potential using modern switchers coupled with intelligent I*V tracking.
We are pursuing these technologies enthusiastically with a view to incorporating wind-power coupled with intelligent load management to suit applications ranging from domestic to community.
